As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Compliance Systems & Operations Officer to strengthen our compliance operations, optimize our compliance technology, and ensure we remain audit-ready while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Role Summary

The Compliance Systems & Operations Officer is responsible for the administration, optimization, and day-to-day operation of Switch Hub's compliance systems and AML program.

This individual will own our compliance technology stack, including platforms such as Sumsub, and will design, configure, and continuously improve customer onboarding, KYC, KYB, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, workflow automation, and transaction monitoring.

The ideal candidate combines strong AML knowledge with hands-on technical experience configuring compliance systems, creating rules, investigating alerts, and preparing the organization for regulatory examinations.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Systems Administration

  • Own and administer compliance platforms including Sumsub and other AML technologies.
  • Configure and maintain KYC and KYB workflows.
  • Build and optimize Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) workflows.
  • Create and maintain customer risk scoring models.
  • Configure sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and beneficial ownership screening.
  • Design and continuously improve onboarding rules.
  • Build and optimize transaction monitoring rules and behavioural detection scenarios.
  • Reduce false positives while maintaining effective risk detection.
  • Test, document, and deploy new compliance configurations.

Compliance Operations

  • Review and approve KYC and KYB applications.
  • Perform Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for higher-risk customers.
  • Conduct ongoing customer due diligence and periodic reviews.
  • Investigate transaction monitoring alerts.
  • Review sanctions and adverse media matches.
  • Escalate suspicious activity in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Maintain complete investigation records and case documentation.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain documentation supporting all regulatory filings.
  • Assist with responses to regulatory requests.
  • Ensure reporting obligations are met within prescribed timelines.

Audit & Compliance Readiness

  • Maintain audit-ready compliance records and documentation.
  • Support FINTRAC examinations and independent compliance reviews.
  • Assist with internal compliance testing and quality assurance.
  • Monitor remediation of audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance procedures remain current with regulatory requirements.
  • Support updates to AML policies, procedures, and controls.

Risk Management

  • Assist with enterprise AML/ATF risk assessments.
  • Recommend improvements to compliance controls.
  • Monitor emerging AML trends and regulatory developments.
  • Identify opportunities for greater automation and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to implement compliance enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of AML/Compliance experience in fintech, banking, payments, or a Money Services Business (MSB).
  • Hands-on experience administering compliance platforms such as Sumsub.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring KYC workflows, KYB workflows, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), customer risk scoring, workflow automation, transaction monitoring rules, and sanctions and PEP screening.
  • Experience investigating transaction monitoring alerts.
  • Experience preparing and filing regulatory reports.
  • Experience supporting compliance audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Strong understanding of AML/ATF regulations and risk-based compliance principles.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FINTRAC and CBN compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within an MSB or PSP.
  • CAMS, CFCS, or equivalent AML certification.
  • Experience with blockchain analytics or crypto transaction monitoring.
  • Familiarity with payment rails including Interac e-Transfer, EFT, ACH, Wire, SWIFT, and real-time payment systems.
  • Experience working with a Back Office or similar operational tools.

  • KYC/KYB review turnaround time.
  • False-positive rate on transaction monitoring alerts.
  • Regulatory reports submitted accurately and on time.
  • Audit findings and remediation status.
  • Customer onboarding completion rate.
  • Compliance system uptime and workflow efficiency.
  • Quality assurance review scores.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives implemented.
